Talent development and inclusion

Improving access to screen and creative careers for people from all backgrounds

CHANNEL 4 COMMISSIONING MENTOR NETWORK

This ground-breaking mentor network for rising stars from diverse backgrounds ran for 7 years and matched over 300 talented content creators with Channel 4 commissioners and senior execs to help them break through glass ceilings. Many are now in senior industry positions as commissioners, acclaimed producers and company leaders.

ASSISTANTS AND COORDINATORS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

This innovative programme matched the channel’s genre assistants with senior players in the indie sector, to enhance their understanding of the production process and broaden their career opportunities.

Filmmakers 25

Co-funded by ScreenSkills, Bradford Council and now Channel 4, this mentor network has recruited 75 local content creators and paired them with industry experts to enhance their careers. The project is based at The Unit, a free-to-use screen hub where those interested in careers in film, TV and digital can work, learn and share ideas.

Directors UK Back on Track Programme

We provided bespoke mentoring support for film and TV directors returning to work after career breaks.

Batley High School Screen Careers Initiative

We’re particularly proud of this unique mentoring project to encourage teenage girls into screen careers in an area of high deprivation, achieved thanks to the vision of its two head teachers. Sadly disrupted by the pandemic.
